Quinn left his work by foot. After three years living here in a somewhat legal way - at least, more legal than he sued to - he still had no car. He had a motorbike he was taking out during the beautiful season but with the price of gas, cold wind was not the only reason why he was rarely using it. You could then wonder how he was able to go from one point to another if you rarely saw him walking down the streets and even less taking the bus. The answer to that was rather simple: he was using his cat form.
He quickly found out that f he wanted to walk to his work from his apartment, it was taking him at least half an hour. After all, he had to follow the route made by the streets. As a cat though, it was easy to jump on a fence, to a tree, to another fence... and no one was accusing a cat from entering a private property. He was saving that way a good fifteen minutes simply by cutting through people's courtyard. All he had to do was to go to a back alley close to the garage he worked at and change back into his human form. Now, that’s convenient!
Quinn didn’t always like being a shapeshifter, but it was quite an advantage. He also enjoyed jumping on people’s roof to look at the sky and think alone for a while. It was harder to do so on his apartment block. And that was what he decided t do after his hours of work. Three years he was there. Three years where he met a few other people just as weird as he was. Yet he never made friends with any of them, or anyone for that matter. And the voice of his mother was still lingering at the back of his mind, reminding him he was an atrocity. Even here with other freaks like him, he didn’t feel normal, at home. People were right on one point; it’s never easy to get rid of the past.
Tired of standing there - it had been almost an hour after all - and feeling hungry too, Quinn thought it was time to go home. He knew he hadn’t much to eat there, but he never liked fish much and other than that, the only thing people were giving him in cat form to eat was cat food, and he would never touch that! He had his pride, and a better sense of taste. He stretched his muscles before jumping on the branches of a tree and down to the ground. Claws were useful to climb, and his agility amazing to run and jump. A real little ninja. Not seeing anyone around the park he was now in, he returned to his human form and started to walk down, as if nothing happened, in direction of his home.
